Handel’s Water Music is one of the Baroque era’s smash hits – a festive, jolly masterpiece that’s been beloved by audiences ever since its royal riverboat premiere 300 years ago. Now, hear its bright, open-air sound and toe-tapping tunes – including its signature, sailor-inspired Alla Hornpipe – live with Symphony Nova Scotia and acclaimed baroque specialist Jonathan Cohen, Music Director of Quebec’s Les Violons du Roy. Also, our orchestra welcomes cellist/gambist Elinor Frey to explore the Baroque viola da gamba, an upright string instrument that enjoyed great popularity during the Baroque period.
Featuring:
Jonathan Cohen, conductor
Elinor Frey, viola da gamba
Christine Feierabend, piccolo
Symphony Nova Scotia
